Lucia Udvardyová is a music journalist and organiser. In 2010, she co-founded Easterndaze, a project that aims to document and interconnect emerging underground scenes in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the associated tape label called Baba Vanga. She has collaborated with Czech Radio, Resonance FM, The Quietus, Electronic Beats, Tiny Mix Tapes, Norient, Digicult, POSTmatter, Flash Art, the Austrian Cultural Forum, Next Festival, Creamcake, UH Fest, and Ad Hoc, among others.
Between April and June 2015, she curated an exhibition/event series introducing the visual and sonic aesthetic of several labels and collectives from Central and Eastern Europe at the OFF Biennale in Budapest. In 2016, she co-founded Easterndaze x Berlin, a music & film event in Berlin that aims to bring together collectives/labels from Central/Eastern Europe and Berlin.
She has given talks and workshops and participated at panels including: Sorbonne University in Paris, University of the Arts in Berlin, Central European University in Budapest, Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, Norient Film Festival in Bern, etc. She also works for SHAPE (Sound, Heterogeneous Art and Performance in Europe), a pan-European festival initiative that promotes innovative music and audiovisual art, as well as Unearthing the Music, a research project focused on Eastern European experimental music.
