Tristan Perich:
Tone Patterns II

Tristan Perich‘s (New York) work is inspired by the aesthetic simplicity of math, physics and code.

The WIRE Magazine describes his compositions as "an austere meeting of electronic and organic." 1-Bit Music, his 2004 release, was the first album ever released as a microchip, programmed to synthesize his electronic composition live.

SIGIC Ljubljana

Independent Labels and music licensing

James Ginzburg is the founder and curator of one of the most prominent small publishing houses Subtext. Since 2004, James has been leading Multiverse - a publishing company, a network of record labels and a music studio in Bristol, which focuses on experimental and contemporary electronic music for a wide range of releases: from underground to Hollywood movie music.
In the conversation, he will present the work of both very different music companies and the principles of music licensing and the possibilities of using music for various commercial purposes.

James Ginzburg - SUBTEXT & Multiverse Label

19.00 h

Pritličje

Round Table:
East by Southeast

The talk about the initiatives of music festivals outside of Europe. In recent years, European festivals are increasingly establishing their branches in the east and south.
The SHAPE platform has been introduced in Montreal, Rio de Janeiro in recent years, and recently in Jinya, Uganda.

What opportunities and challenges do these co-operations bring? Is it a kind of cultural colonization? We will consider the festival as a business model and the role of the festival as a political platform.

Experiences will be shared by CTM Festival Leaders (with the initiatives of CTM Iran, CTM Siberia) and TodaysArt (TodaysArt Japan), and Natalia Fuchs, a curator and agent, who mainly represents Russian new media and sound artists.

Olof van Winden - TodaysArt
Oliver Baurhen – CTM
Natalia Fuchs – independent curator, Gamma Festival
Dražen Dragojević – Moderator

Lifecutter

Aisha Devi

No one on this planet sounds like Aïsha Devi. Her voice is her most powerful tool in a repertoire that includes thumping beats and rave stabs, seraphic and guttural throat singing, mystical linguistics and corporeal sonics.

Giant Swan

Giant Swan create a cross-breed of hypnotic bass, industrial percussion and disorientating energy delivered with telepathic intricacy.

About SONICA

white line sonica.jpg

Sonica is a festival of contemporary electronic music and transitory art. In a way, it is conceived as a showcase of the annual program produced by MoTA - Museum of Transitory Art. Its experimental nature questions exhibition and staging formats, crossing borders between art and theory, object and performance.

Sonica is an attempt to transform a classical exhibition space into a field of events, performances, workshops, and lectures. It is a temporary laboratory established on the crossing of visual art, media and sound art and research, consisting of production and research residencies, exhibitions, performances, and public interventions, with a special focus on intersections of music, sound and other art forms.

In the past, Sonica has presented artists like Tim Hecker, Rashad Becker, Emptyset, Marina Rosenfeld, Ryoichi Kurokawa, Plaid, Byetone, Transforma, Herman Kolgen, Zimoun, SND, Nik Nowak, Nonotak, and many others.
